Fictional Writings of Elleander Grey


  • Casually the influence of both friends weaved and tangled until the life within their hearts shaped a magnificent gleaming of camaraderie. It was these times of their life that many days may be mapped back to a single spot upon the street of their reign. The house was home to several friends of Caleb’s, and also became a temporary home to frequent visitors as well. The large television, the collection of soft accessible couches, and a bar table complete with stools situated in the middle of the arrangement provided for many nights of important hysterical bantering, philosophical farting, and exaggerated story-telling. But nothing could have enticed a visitor to this home without the presence of a meticulous, manic but sincere sort of residents who claimed ownership of the establishment: Karen, and Lily. Welcomed visitors were often asked, or rather expected to attend the beginning of one’s night at Karen and Lily’s. In fact my memory fails me as to whether it really was a home or featured a rather giant neon sign stating “Karen & Lily’s”, a do-it-yourself speak-easy. Guests were expected to be on their best behavior here. This often included sharing a shot of flammable alcohol bursting in flames with your newly acquainted friend. Of course then it was expected that one’s beard be on fire as a result of indiscriminately throwing the burning poison in the direction of one’s face. Another expected behavior included thrusting one’s head through the passenger side window of a car. And if the glass were to shatter around one’s face and causing massive cutting and spilling of blood it was customary to skate to the liquor store and buy a bottle of something for the owner of said car. Upon receipt of such bottle it was rather fashionable to offer a first sip to the bandaged and bloodied head. However, if one were to be a distinct and honored guest one must certainly partake in and of all festivities included with that specific night. A listing of such festivities follows here. As I have said before this story centers upon drugs. People, you must understand that drugs are being used. A bottle of the finest rum or vodka atop the bar, and a bar stool supporting the bodies of both Clark and Caleb were a fixture at this quality establishment. On the other side of the bar would sit Lily and her quizzical sparkling eyes gazing at something on the floor laughing at one of Clark’s remarks while pouring a glass of her own. Upon my first excursion to Karen & Lily’s I took special notice of the relationship between that of Lily and Caleb. Their crystal blue eyes, their soft faces, and their easy amiability coupled with a sweet affection for each other created an important connexion between the two. At first I thought them siblings, disappointed by my inaccurate assumption, I declared they must be lovers. To my ultimate surprise they were only friends. I was fooled by a unique and powerful relationship not usually present between friends, or even lovers. Any naïve soul happening to witness their connexion would be jealous by the camaraderie they shared. This was a group of intimate friends, this was a large bottle of rum being tilted upside down glistening with a conclusive consumption of poison and spirit buried into our lips and became our lives. This was Karen & Lily’s offering to our generation. Do not be fooled however. These nights of bliss ended in wretched lies, piercing muscle aches, biting memories, wall pounding headaches, and irregular heartbeats. The lucky one’s found themselves in their own bed safe from the wreckage of such nights as those provided by Karen & Lily’s. Regardless the outcome of these colorful evenings a sacred worship would commence upon the rising of our bright and powerful yellow star.
